New Year

As we close the year 2015, we can look back and reflect on how much Jesus loves His church. Delphi Falls United Church and her members have been blessed in so many ways over this past year. The Bible’s Old Testament Prophet Jeremiah says…”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11.NIV). We receive that Word, Blessing and Vision and look to Him for what is yet to come in 2016!
A few weeks ago the church congregation approved a pulpit search committee to seek and recommend a new pastor to the church board and congregation. The search committee has interviewed and approved the recommendation of Reverend Brian Pidkaminy as valid candidate for pastor and will seek final approval by the congregation at our Annual Meeting in January.
In order for this church to best prepare the Soil to receive the Seed that lay ahead for us, the church board has approved a spending plan for the repair and upgrade to certain areas of the building. These upgrades and repairs will allow us to better meet the needs of the congregation and the community. Funding has been approved to get the projects started and will require additional funding approval at our January Board Meeting to eventually complete all 3 of projects that are needed.
The three needed upgrades include outside lighting, building of an office within the church and sound system upgrades. We have not had outside lighting for this church over the last 200 years. The lighting will make us safer in the dark hours and also be more welcoming to the community. As a church body we will be doing more things in the evening times and we will need to accommodate those activities. The office will allow the pastor to utilize an area for private and confidential Pastoral counseling, spiritual guidance and meetings. And of course, our sound system needs upgrading to ensure Gods Word reaching everyone’s ears in the sanctuary.
Even though funding has been approved to start construction, additional funding will be required to complete all of the projects. Outside lighting upgrade work will start this week with an electrician running wires to install four sidewalk light poles and lighting will be added to our front yard signs.
This upcoming year will be amazing to see the front of the church all lit up for the first time in 200 years. This is truly a time for celebration of Gods great works here in Delphi Falls.
